The State Police Accountability Commission Assam was constituted by the Government of Assam, Home Department Notification No  HMA.833/2007/51  dated. 17th December 2007 under the provisions of section 70 and 71 of the   Assam Police Act 2007(Act No. XX of  2007). The Commission is a statutory body to ensure accountability of the Police.
 The State Police   Accountability Commission started to function with effect from 1st January 2008.
